Μια εκπαιδευτική συνεργασία του Ωδείου Αθηνών με το The School of Music of the University of Leeds.

“Έρως & Aπώλεια στην Αρκαδία” | Αγγλικό και Γαλλικό Μπαρόκ
Η 3η Θερινή Ακαδημία Παλαιάς Μουσικής που διοργανώνει το Ωδείο Αθηνών σε συνεργασία με τη Σχολή Μουσικής του University of Leeds στη Χώρα της Σάμου, έχει ως θέμα το αγγλικό και το γαλλικό μπαρόκ με φωνητικό και οργανικό ρεπερτόριο συνθετών όπως οι Henry Purcell, John Blow, Jean Baptiste Lully. Το σεμινάριο προσφέρει ατομικά και ομαδικά μαθήματα σε σπουδαστές με ειδίκευση στη φωνή και στα όργανα φλάουτο, βιολί, βιολοντσέλο.
Οι συμμετέχοντες (ενεργοί σπουδαστές και ακροατές) θα έχουν την ευκαιρία να έρθουν σε επαφή με ιστορικά όργανα και με την ερμηνεία της μπαρόκ μουσικής μέσα από σημαντικά έργα του ρεπερτορίου όπως μεταξύ άλλων οι όπερες King Arthur και Venus and Adonis. Επίσης, θα παρακολουθήσουν διαλέξεις ενώ οι ενεργοί σπουδαστές θα συμμετάσχουν στην τελική συναυλία.

Δημήτρης Κούντουρας
Ειδικεύεται σε ιστορικά είδη φλάουτου από τον Μεσαίωνα μέχρι το Μπαρόκ και στην παλαιά μουσική. Σπούδασε φλάουτο με ράμφος, μπαρόκ φλάουτο και ιστορική ερμηνεία στις Ανώτατες 
Σχολές Μουσικής της Ουτρέχτης, του Μιλάνου και της Βιέννης. Ολοκλήρωσε τις σπουδές του στη μουσική του Μεσαίωνα και της Αναγέννησης στο Ινστιτούτο Παλαιάς Μουσικής του Τρόσινγκεν (Master of Early Music) ενώ είναι διδάκτορας μουσικολογίας του ΕΚΠΑ. Υπήρξε μεταδιδακτορικός υπότροφος του ΚΕΑΕ για την έρευνά του «Η μουσική των τροβαδούρων στο Λατινικό Βασίλειο της Θεσσαλονίκης μετά το 1204» (εκδ. Νεφέλη 2017).
Έχει εμφανιστεί, μεταξύ άλλων, στην αίθουσες Sala Verdi του Μιλάνου και Pablo Casals του Τόκυο, στο Μέγαρο Μουσικής Αθηνών και Θεσσαλονίκης, στο Konzerthaus της Βιέννης και στο διεθνές φεστιβάλ J.S. Bach της Ρίγας ενώ έχει συνεργαστεί με την Καμεράτα Αθηνών (Γ. Πέτρου), με τη Συμφωνική Ορχήστρα της Βιέννης (Ph. Jordan) και με την Harmony of Nations Baroque Orchestra. Διευθύνει το σύνολο παλαιάς μουσικής Ex Silentio και τη σειρά συναυλιών «Παλαιά μουσική στον Άγιο Παύλο». Έχει ηχογραφήσει με το Ex Silentio για τις γερμανικές εταιρίες Talanton και Carpe Diem ενώ έχει εκδώσει μελέτες και δοκίμια πάνω σε θέματα ιστορίας της μουσικής του Μεσαίωνα και στις σχέσεις μουσικής και λόγου.
Bryan White
Ο Bryan White είναι Senior Lecturer στη Σχολή Μουσικής του University of Leeds, όπου διευθύνει τη χορωδία δωματίου του Clothworkers Consort of Leeds. Είναι διευθυντής χορωδίας του Leeds 
Baroque και μέλος της συντακτικής επιτροπής της Purcell Society και της Web Library for Seventeenth-Century Music. Ο Bryan ερευνά τη μουσική και τον πολιτισμό στη Βρετανία από τον δέκατο έβδομο έως τον δέκατο ένατο αιώνα.
Είναι συγγραφέας του Music for St Cecilia’s Day from Purcell to Handel (Boydell, 2019), συν-συντάκτης του Musical Exchange Between Britain and Europe 1500-1800 (Boydell, 2020) και συντάκτης της όπερας του Louis Grabu Albion and Albanius (Stainer & Bell, 2007) και της ωδής St Cecilia’s Day From harmony του G. B. Draghi, από το Ηeav’nly Harmony (Stainer & Bell, 2010), για τη σειρά Purcell Society Companion.
Αυτή την περίοδο γράφει το The Purcell Compendium με τον Peter Holman, που πρόκειται να εκδοθεί από την Boydell το 2025.
Φανή Βοβώνη
Η Φανή Βοβώνη γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα. Σπούδασε βιολί στο Κärnten Landeskonservatorium του Klagenfurt με τον Helfried Fister και στο Πανεπιστήμιο Μουσικής και Δραματικής Τέχνης της 
Βιέννης με τον Ernst Kovacic, όπου και αποφοίτησε με διάκριση. Παράλληλα παρακολούθησε μαθήματα μπαρόκ βιολιού με τον Hiro Kurosaki και τον Reinhard Goebel.
Υπήρξε μέλος της European Union Youth Orchestra (2000) καθώς και της European Union Barock Orchestra (2004, 2006).
Ασχολήθηκε εντατικά με την ιστορική ερμηνεία, τη μοντέρνα μουσική καθώς και με ζητήματα δραματουργίας στη μουσική περφόρμανς.
Ζει στη Βιέννη όπου και συνεργάζεται με σύνολα όπως Klangforum Wien, Camerata Salzburg, Barruco, Concerto Stella Matutina, Il Pomo d’Oro, Black Page Orchestra, Cappela Leopoldina, Ensemble Prisma κ.ά. ενώ έχει λάβει μέρος σε διάφορα Φεστιβάλ στην Ευρώπη, καθώς και στη Βόρεια και Νότια Αμερική.
Παράλληλα έχει τακτική συνεργασία με τα ελληνικά σύνολα παλαιάς μουσικής Ex Silentio και Latinitas Nostra.
Υπό τη σκηνοθεσία του Σάββα Στρούμπου και σε συνεργασία με τη σοπράνο Φανή Αντωνέλου και την ηθοποιό Έλλη Ιγγλίζ ανέβασε το έργο Θραύσματα από τον Κάφκα (Kafka-Fragmente) στο θέατρο Άττις στην Αθήνα το 2018.
Μαριλένα Σουρή
Η Μαριλένα Σουρή από τον Φεβρουάριο του 2020 εργάζεται ως συνοδός και βοηθός μουσικής προετοιμασίας της Παιδικής Χορωδίας της Εθνικής Λυρικής Σκηνής. Έχει αποφοιτήσει από το 
LUCA School of Arts/Lemmensinstituut (Λέβεν, Βέλγιο) με Μaster στην πιανιστική εκτέλεση και από τη Schola Cantorum de Paris με το Diplôme Superieur. Έχει δώσει ατομικά ρεσιτάλ και συναυλίες μουσικής δωματίου σε πολλές ευρωπαϊκές χώρες και έχει συμπράξει ως σολίστ με τη LUCA Chamber Orchestra και την Ελληνική Συμφωνιέτα. Έχει διακριθεί σε εθνικούς και διεθνείς διαγωνισμούς, ενώ το 2018 τιμήθηκε από την Ακαδημία Αθηνών με το Βραβείο «Μυκονίου» της Τάξης Γραμμάτων και Καλών Τεχνών.

Love and Loss in Arcadia | English and French baroque
The Athens Conservatoire organizes the 3rd Samos Early Music Summer Academy in Collaboration with The School of Music of the University of Leeds in the island of Samos.
The Summer Academy focuses in the English and French works of baroque music, both instrumental and vocal, by Henry Purcell, John Blow, Jean Baptiste Lully. The Summer Academy offers individual and group lessons to students of vocal performance and the following instruments: flute, violin, violoncello.
Participants (active and passive) will have the opportunity of getting in touch, not only with period instruments, but also with the performance of baroque music through major works such as the operas King Arthur and Venus and Adonis. Participants will also attend lectures and active participants will take part in the final concert.
Everyday from 22 until 28 June, 10:00-13:00 & 14:00-16:00

SHORT BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES
Dimitris Kountouras
Born in Greece he studied recorder, baroque flute and historical performance practice at the Utrecht School of the Arts (MA 2001), at the Early Music Institute – Academy of Music in Milan and at the Conservatoire of Vienna. He got a masters degree on Medieval and Renaissance music from the Trossingen School of Music and a PhD on historical musicology from the University of Athens with a thesis on the relations between renaissance humanism and music. He performed in festivals and venues such as the Styriarte Festival in Graz, the J.S.Bach Festival in Riga, the Pablo Casals hall in Tokyo, the Sala Verdi in Milan, the Megaron in Athens, the Hellenic Festival, the Konzerthaus of Vienna, the Marco Fodella Festival in Milan, the Mousike’ in Bari, the Banchetto musicale in Vilnius, the Trollhaeten Festival in Sweeden etc. He has performed with Armonia Atenea (G.Petrou), with Harmony of Nations Baroque Orchestra as well as with Vienna Symphony Orchestra (Ph.Jordan) and performs regularly with his own ensemble Ex Silentio. He has recorded for Carpe Diem and Talanton with Ex Silentio and took part in baroque opera recordings for DECCA and MDG. In 2016 he was a post-doc scholar for the Centre for Humanistic Research in Athens with a project on the troubadours at the Kingdom of Thessalonika after 1204 (Nefeli editions). His interests include the historical performance practice, the text and music relations and the influence of the Renaissance humanism on music. He is teaching at the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki, the Conservatoire of Athens and the Filippos Nakas Conservatoire.
Bryan White
Bryan White is Senior Lecturer in the School of Music at the University of Leeds where he directs the chamber choir the Clothworkers Consort of Leeds. He is the choir director of Leeds Baroque and a member of the editorial board of the Purcell Society and of the Web Library for Seventeenth-Century Music. Bryan researches music and culture in Britain from the seventeenth to the nineteenth centuries. He is the author of Music for St Cecilia’s Day from Purcell to Handel (Boydell, 2019), co-editor of Musical Exchange Between Britain and Europe 1500-1800 (Boydell, 2020), and editor of Louis Grabu’s opera Albion and Albanius (Stainer & Bell, 2007) and G. B. Draghi’s St Cecilia’s Day ode From harmony, from Heav’nly Harmony (Stainer & Bell, 2010) for the Purcell Society Companion Series. He is currently writing The Purcell Compendium with Peter Holman due to be published by Boydell in 2025.
Fani Vovoni
Fani Vovoni was born in Athens. After finishing her studies with Helfried Fister in Klagenfurt in 2001, she went on to study at the Vienna University of Music in the class of Ernst Kovacic, from which she graduated with honors in March 2007. During her studies, she also attended a class in Baroque violin lectured by Hiro Kurosaki, later studied in Mozarteum Salzburg with Reinhard Goebel. One of the significant events in her early career was her participation in the European Union Youth Orchestra (2000) and European Union Baroque Orchestra in 2004 where she intensively explored so-called “ancient music”.
Focus in early and contemporary music and issues of dramaturgy in musical performance.
She has given concerts in ensemble formations at numerous festivals around Europe, Αsia, North and South America focusing in early and contemporary music, with groups such as the Klangforum Wien, Camerata Salzburg, Barruco, Concerto Stella Matutina, Il Pomo d´Oro, Black Page Orchestra, Cappela Leopoldina, Ensemble Prisma, such as the Greece-based early music groups Latinitas Nostra and Ex Silentio.
A recent exciting collaboration was in 2018 with stage director Savvas Stroumbos and soprano Fanie Antonelou giving a series of performances of the Kafka Fragments by György Kurtag in Attis theater, Athens
Marilena Souri
Marilena Souri works since February 2020 as an accompanist and music preparation assistant for the Children’s Choir of the Greek National Opera. She graduated from the LUCA School of Arts/Lemmensinstituut (Leuven, Belgium) with a Master’s degree in piano performance and from the Schola Cantorum de Paris with a Diplôme Superieur. She has given solo recitals and chamber music concerts in many European countries and has performed as a soloist with the LUCA Chamber Orchestra and the Greek Symphony Orchestra. She has been honored in national and international competitions and in 2018 she was awarded the “Mikoniou” Prize by the Athens Academy of Arts and Letters.
