The stunning and elegant Amphitheatre, with a seating capacity for 600 people, is the ideal modern stage for conferences & congresses, cinema, theatre or dance performances and music concerts of all kinds.
The Ioannis Despotopoulos Amphitheatre, named in honor of the architect of the building, the leading ambassador of modernism and the Bauhaus movement in Greece, was inspired by the design principles of ancient Greek amphitheaters, creating a unique feeling of “intimacy” with all audiences and for any type of event.
The venue is situated in the first basement (-1) of the building and is accessible via Rigillis Street. Two main entrances serve audiences and visitors, while spacious cloakrooms, dressing and storage rooms support the needs of the most demanding performance productions.
Its particular design and its modern technical systems and facilities ensure the successful hosting of conferences and lectures as well as various cultural, artistic and corporate events. The complementary use of the other venues nearby is ideal for hosting parallel events, such as workshops, parallel sessions etc., or even setting up pavilions for a trade fair.
The venue also benefits from the use of the Peristylion Café, an elegant all-day cafe/bistrot which operates close to the entrance of the venue.
The amphitheatre is equipped with wifi and meets accessibility standards for people with disabilities.
